After discovering his passion for exercise and fitness, a Rangiora man wants to make a difference when it comes to weight loss.

Tiziano Deerson is a qualified personal trainer, and in his third year at the University of Canterbury studying strength and conditioning.

Deerson started up his business after realising that he did not want to work at a supermarket for the rest of his life.

In early 2014, Deerson invested money into getting some gear to kick off his one-on-one in-home personal training under the name of “Chiseled Fitness”, using a Facebook page to attract clients.

“I think it was that I just wanted to do something for others.

“‘Because I'm quite a gym-goer myself, once you really like something so much you figure out ‘right if I can do it like this, how can I pass what I know onto other people?’.”

Deerson dropped one-on-one training sessions because he found people tended to lose the motivation for weight loss if they only had themselves to rely on.

“As a trainer, there is only so much that I can do to get them to come along, to want it.”

Deerson felt the best way to get and keep people motivated about weight loss would be to start something that people could do together, and so the Bootcamp was created.

Designed to target those who have perhaps have fallen off the fitness wagon, or struggle to self motivate, the boot camps are a perfect platform to encourage and improve everyone's levels of commitment to exercise, while at the same time emphasising that age is just a number and it shouldn't hold you back.

“Doing boot camps, I feel that you can get more sense of community as well as accountability with all the people because their friends will come along,” said Deerson.

With a lot of his customers ranging from ages 30 to upwards of 50, he is constantly expanding his customer base and the boot camps have already received a flood of positive reviews from clients.

Deerson said that the main reason why he has seen such positive feedback about the bootcamps was because of his huge social media presence.

"Because we are in the day and age where we have technology and everyone's on Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, all that kinda stuff. I think that's given it a really big push.”

Already an incorporated company, Deerson has big plans for Chiseled Fitness Ltd.

As of 2019, Tiziano (better known as Tiz) and Chiseled Fitness Limited have received over 750 likes on facebook with no signs of slowing down.

The Chiseled Fitness brand itself now has three trainers each specializing in three different areas based on people's skill level and ability. From novice to intermediate, and even expert, there is a little something on offer for everyone, and this deal is sweetened with incentive based competitions and a friendly, motivational environment.
